Obituary for Karen R. Miller

Karen R. Miller, 73, of Columbus passed away on May 12, 2022, at her home.

She was born on August 4, 1948, to William Beatty and Ellen Thompson Garrity. She married her beloved husband, Karl Miller, on November 24, 1975. He preceded her in death on June 24, 2013.

Throughout her life, Karen enjoyed fishing, knitting, crocheting, camping with her husband, reading the bible, and listening to country and gospel music. She was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church where she loved to volunteer her help in many of the church’s ministry activities.

She is survived by her children, William Ray Smith, and Norman Lynn Crossland, both of Columbus, IN, George (Crystal) Miller, and Karl Miller, both of Illinois; a brother, Robert (Patsy) Garrity, of Columbus; sisters, Linda Young, Ellen Jones, Marilyn Miller, and Patti (Michael) Palmer, all of Columbus; and several grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, William Beatty, and Ellen Thompson Garrity; spouse, Karl Miller; a brother, Steve Beatty; and sisters, Sharon Gilbert, and Carolyn Garrity.

The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 14 at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with calling hours from 9 to 11 a.m. the same morning. Following the service, Karen will be laid to rest in Bethel Baptist Cemetery next to her late husband.
