FUNERAL SERVICES: 2:30 P.M. Saturday October 6, 2012 at Cornerstone Baptist Church Elizabethtown, IN
VISITATION: 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday at the church

Reverend John Reginald Ruland Jr., 80, of Elizabethtown, Indiana, died at 1:51 p.m. Tuesday, October 2, 2012, at Columbus Regional Hospital.
Rev. Ruland was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He founded and was pastor of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Elizabethtown, Indiana, for 23 years. In 1997, Rev. Ruland was recognized as Pastor of the Year for Outstanding Smaller Church for faithful service.
Rev. Ruland is survived by his wife, Gloria Thompson Ruland; his son, John Ruland III, and wife Ginger of Columbus, Indiana; his daughter, Debra Seeley and husband Michael of Auburn, Maine; his son, Timothy Ruland and wife Lorrie of Weare, New Hampshire; and his daughter, Laurie Rosner and husband Gary of Enfield, Connecticut. He enjoyed his many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and extended family.
He enjoyed preaching, ministering and giving of himself to his fellowship and community. He also enjoyed his family and his hobbies which included coin collecting, woodworking and studying the scripture.
Born in Guilford, Maine, May 6, 1932, Rev. John Ruland Jr. was the son of late Mr. and Mrs. John Reginald Ruland Sr., of Sangerville, Maine. He and his wife Gloria celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary this past August. They met and fell in love while they were in high school. Together they committed their lives to serve others and God.
In keeping with Rev. Ruland’s wishes, cremation is planned. These arrangements were made by Jewell-Rittman Funeral Home, Columbus, Indiana.
